Warbat Bil Ashta Recipe


UAE National Day celebration is incomplete without Emirati sweets.

Shaabiyat / Warbat Bil Ashta as its popularly known. Cream-filled phyllo dough triangles baked and drizzled with sugar syrup.

A contemporary version of the same dessert – bitesize phyllo pastry cups, baked and filled with luscious and delicious homemade Ashta cream.

Cut phyllo dough into squares and brush with melted butter. Line 3 sheets in each mini cupcake pan and bake until golden brown. 180ºC for 10mins.

1 tin Abevia sweet condensed milk
1 tin Abevia evaporated milk
¾ cup milk
2 tbsp cornstarch

Add all ingredients in a saucepan and cook until thick. Let it cool for 20mins. Add 1 tbsp rosewater and mix well. Chill in the fridge for 3hours.

Fill the crisp baklava cups with chilled clotted cream. Sprinkle slivered pistachios and crushed rose petals. Enjoy!
